Apparently I’m not the only one who’s addicted to iced tea right now. This refreshing pic is from the blog Katherine’s Tea Pot. (She’s devoted an entire blog to tea… very fun.) And I just learned that June is National Iced Tea Month. According to ehow.com, “Legend has it that a tea vendor at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis popularized the drink. When visitors to the sweltering event turned down free hot tea, he ran it through iced pipes to chill the beverage. Word quickly spread about his cold tea.” Even if it’s not 100% historically accurate, I choose to believe it happened that way.
Iced tea is my favorite summer beverage. Part of it is probably that it reminds me of my childhood. My mom always had a jug of sun tea in the fridge during the summer. It was so fun to watch it transform out on the back porch from a jug of regular water in the morning to yummy tea by dinner time. She would have a glass of iced sun tea every night with dinner. It took some time for me to appreciate the unsweetened version she made. I grew up in Michigan, where sweet tea pretty much doesn’t exist. (-: But now the crisp taste of unsweetened iced tea feels like home.
Some of my current tea addictions are from our shop No Worries, Be Happy.
(Even the name of the shop makes you feel good.)
I’m loving the Organic Lemon Green Tea with Honey she carries from The Republic of Tea.
Perfect combo of flavors and divine as an iced tea.
I also love her Honeydew Melon White Tea. Dr. Oz keeps saying how good white tea is for you,
so I feel a little more healthy every time I sip this one.
The current tea on my wish list from the NWBH shop is the Black Raspberry Green Tea. I love black raspberries… (another childhood memory there but I’ll spare you the story) The dark fruit tops the berry list with its antioxidant levels so it’s another good for me and I bet super yummy option.
