It used to be I could only find the perfect gifts once in a blue moon. This is exactly what the founders of Blue Moon Gift Shops were thinking about when they opened their doors almost thirteen years ago. They wanted to create a place where customers could find something special for everyone on their list. If you only find the perfect gift once in a blue moon, why not create Blue Moon Gift Shops!
What is a blue moon, and why is it so special? A blue moon is the occurrence of two full moons in the same month. This event only happens every few years… part of the reason why the saying, “once in a blue moon” has been coined. On a very rare occasion, there will be two months in the same calendar year with blue moons. It just so happens the last time this “double blue moon” occurred was the year Blue Moon opened it’s doors, 1999! It won’t happen again until Blue Moon turns nineteen in 2018!

This year there is one blue moon on August 31st! There won’t be another blue moon until 2015, so we are going to celebrate! Come by on Friday, August 31st from 5:30 to 7:30 for our “Wine and Unwind” event featuring wine tastings by Noni Bacca Winery and hors d’ouevres from Chase the Taste! How delicious does this melon carpaccio and prosciutto crostini with balsamic gastrique look? I’m not sure that I could correctly pronounce all of those words, but I sure can’t wait to taste this on Friday!
Craig Hales Art and Island Girl Art will be hosting grand openings for their shops at Blue Moon during the “Wine and Unwind” event!
